Everybody Reads with Mira Jacob (March 10)

Celebrated “The Sleepwalker’s Guide to Dancing” author Mira Jacob will be offering a rousing talk at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall to wrap up the 2022 Everybody Reads Series. She’ll be focusing on the issues of family, tolerance and love she covers in her new book “Good Talk: A Memoir in Conversations” with the wry humor that’s become her calling card. Be sure to catch this rising star of literature during this landmark event.

Women Winemakers Flights (March 11–13; 18–20)

Women winemakers based in Oregon are producing some truly exquisite vintages. In celebration of these powerhouse vintners, Oregon Wine will be holding a series of tastings featuring deliciously distilled decanters from Helioterra Wines, Boedecker Cellars, and hostesses Hip Chicks Do Wine. Glasses, growlers, bottles and “to-go” flights will be available, so be sure to sip and savor your favorites.

Women’s Empowerment Day (March 12)

Join an esteemed coterie of inspiring women leaders at this rousing event, dedicated to helping attendees to channel their feminine energy into living authentic lives of purpose and intention. Guests will have an opportunity to attend workshops, avail themselves of valuable resources and connect and network with speakers and other participants.

Feminism Crafts with SCRAP PDX (March 13)

The SCRAP Creative Reuse team is committed to keeping usable waste out of landfills by turning it into creative materials for teachers, crafters and other hobbyists. You’re invited to join them on this “crafternoon” to make use of these reclaimed supplies in the creation of wearable art — specifically, feminism-focused pins and buttons. Tickets to the event are available for a suggested donation of $10, and are available at SCRAP’s storefront.

In the Name of Forgotten Women (March 25 – April 16)

As written by Cindy Williams Gutiérrez and directed by Gemma Whelan, this stirring CoHo Productions work of performance art is an event that’s not to be missed. Through a combination of verse, music, dance, multimedia and other creative expression, this moving presentation presents stories of strength and perseverance inspired by the true stories of oppressed women from all over the world. The result is a rousing call to action that celebrates the divine feminine.

Cup of Excellence Coffee Social (March 26)

Portland non-profit Alliance for Coffee Excellence is committed to supporting ethical and sustainable coffee growing worldwide. As part of their Cup of Excellence award program, the alliance is partnering with Roast Magazine to host this tasting event featuring coffees from women honorees. The event will be held at Either/Or Café, with all proceeds going toward Grounds For Health, an organization that works to prevent cervical cancer in underprivileged communities in coffee-growing countries around the world.
